01/11/2002 Entry: "DE BUITENKANT"
Sinds haar dood, afgelopen zaterdag, ben ik als een soort wetenschapper mijn eigen gedrag aan het onderzoeken. Ik hou mezelf nauwlettend in de gaten.
Ik heb even gehuild en daarna is het onderzoek begonnen.
Ik heb mensen gebeld om het droeve nieuws door te geven. (heb ik dat met gevoel gedaan of had ik net zo goed Harmen Siezen kunnen zijn? Nee, dat heb ik goed gedaan)
Ik loop rond, kook, ruim kinderspeelgoed op, doe spelletjes met ze. (raar. gewoon doen.)
Mijn hoofd zit dicht.
In mijn hoofd schieten 100.000 gedachten rond. (kan je dat ook stoppen? Ja, dat kan. Even een eindje wandelen in de kou helpt. Goed bedacht.)
Ik heb gepraat met haar broer en zus (mijn oom en tante) die ik zo'n 32 jaar niet meer gezien heb. ( Goed gedaan. Alles maar gezegd. Net gedaan alsof ze dichtbij staan. Gezegd dat ik het raar vond maar dat ik het niet anders kon dan zo.)
Ik heb niet naar haar foto gekeken en geen gevoelige boeken gelezen. (Verstandig. Oppervlakkige boeken helpen om te kunnen slapen.)
Ik gebruik het woord 'dood' in plaats van 'overleden'. (Sommige woorden houden me beter op de grond. Het is wat het is en ik wind er geen doekjes om.)
Ik ben naar haar toegeweest. Heb een afspraak bedongen buiten de normale afscheidsuren, zodat ik kon doen wat ik had te doen. Zonder vreemde mensen erbij. (Erg goed. Ik heb alles tegen haar gezegd. Ik heb voor het eerst erg moeten huilen. Ik heb gevloekt en ik vond haar lief. Ik heb gezegd dat het me spijt. Dat moest. Ze had een stomme jurk aan. Ik had haar een rood T-shirt aangetrokken. Ik ben naar haar huis geweest. Samen met haar vriend en mijn vriend. Ik had haar vriend ook nog nooit gezien. We hebben gepraat. Ik kon hem troosten. Ik kon met hem praten. Er ging een onbekende wereld voor me open. Het was fijn om niet alleen negatieve herinneringen op te halen. Om lieve dingen te horen. En om de hele avond en ochtend te reconstrueren. (Erg goed ook. Erg veel ook. Ik was uitgeput. Sliep om 20.00 uur.)
Werk ingelicht, school van Kind I ingelicht. Vrienden gebeld.
Gepraat met Kind I. Of hij iets wilde doen. Een tekening maken of er iets over wilde zeggen. Hij zei dat hij het jammer vond dat ze dood was en dat hij nu weer ging computeren.
Totaal onverwacht kwam ik in het log van Elisa een soortgelijk verhaal tegen. Ik lees haar log iedere dag. Soms schrijft ze iets dat me goed doet. (Fijn. Heb net gereageerd in haar log op een mooi zinnetje. Ik rook nog wel. Knap dat zij het kan weerstaan.)
Ik doe wat ik kan. Ik probeer te voldoen aan alle randvoorwaarden om dit te snappen. Ik weet wat ik moet doen en ook al doe ik het aan de Buitenkant, het is goed om ze te doen. Ik wil geen spijt krijgen van dingen die ik niet gedurfd zou hebben. Ik DOE ze gewoon. Het gevoel komt later wel. Weer een enorme huilbui op de begrafenis. Het helpt. Ik was inmiddels al verkouden geworden om opgekropt snot kwijt te kunnen raken.
Ik verbaas me over de reakties van mijn lichaam. Net als bij een bevalling, regelt de Natuur mijn lichaam. Het doseert pijn. Als het niet meer gaat zegt het dat ik moet lachen of gaan poetsen of een enorm ongenuanceerde opmerking moet maken. Geen pil geslikt en geen druppel gedronken. De verdoving wordt gewoon intern geregeld. Ik vind dat een enorme geruststelling. Maar dat vond ik met de bevallingen ook al.
Vandaag ga ik een nieuw horloge-bandje kopen. Ik heb haar horloge gekregen wat zij weer van haar vader kreeg. Dat was mijn opa. Dat ga ik omdoen. Alle kleine beetjes helpen en bovendien was ik altijd al een mens van rituelen.
Na het weekend wacht me nog een volgende klus. Maar dit weekend doe ik even niks. Misschien ga ik zelfs wel naar die lollige voorstelling in de Kleine Komedie. Ik ben in lief gezelschap wat het vast niet raar vindt als ik niet zit te bulderen van de lach of misschien zelfs wegloop. En zondag misschien even naar zee.
