Ik stond samen met de vrouw te wachten op lijn 24. Een winderige tramhalte op het Roelof Hartplein waar ze er bijzonder goed in zijn geslaagd de verkeerssituatie na de verbouwing zo mogelijk nog gevaarlijker te maken.
Lijn 24 kwam aanrijden en toen de vrouw en ik wilden instappen, stapte er een man uit. Het bleek haar man. Hij was bijzonder boos want hij was haar tijdens hun reis kwijt geraakt. Zij was te vroeg en alleen uitgestapt. Met z'n 3-en stapten we in, onder het 'genot' van een luidruchtige scheldpartij van de man richting zijn vrouw.
"Waarom stap je nou verdomme te vroeg uit?"
"Kan je godverdomme niet uit je doppen kijken!"
"STOM ELEMENT DAT JE ER BENT!"
"Je lijkt wel knettergek!"
"Ik heb ook helemaal niks aan jou!"
De vrouw vertrok geen spier.
Dit hoort ze vaker, dacht ik.
In de tram zat het 2-tal schuin achter mij. Het rommelde nog even door maar bij gebrek aan respons hield de man uiteindelijk op. Het was even gewoon stil. We kachelden de Beethovenstraat door.
Ineens deed de man zijn mond weer open:
"Kijk. Hier wonen al die joden"
"Dat zijn de SS'ers van het Midden-Oosten"
Ik mocht er gelukkig snel uit. Thuis baalde ik enorm van mijn eigen keurige opvoeding. Ik had hem natuurlijk precies moeten vertellen wat ik van hem dacht. Ik ga daar eens serieus op oefenen.
