Gisteren, 2-de kerstdag, kwamen wij via een boswandeling-in-de-regen in de buurt van Landsmeer. (Ja. dat laatste per auto. Ik hou best van wandelen maar het moet niet te gek worden) Landsmeer-Den Ilp- Purmerland, om precies te zijn.
Al bij het eerste romantische dorpje viel ons de enorme hoeveelheid kerstversiering op. In alle voortuinen (Ja. Die hebben ze daar) stonden enorme kerstmannen, engelen, arresleetjes en een MEGA-lichtjeszee.
Goh, wat lollig, dachten wij. Al die mensen die hun tuinen en ramen versieren. Beetje overvloedig maar ieder z'n meug. Na al die lampen in Landsmeer ging het vrolijk verder in Den Ilp. Den Ilp was eigenlijk het hoogtepunt. Een achterlijke hoeveelheid lichtjes. Een achterlijke hoeveelheid kerstmannen. De hele decoratie-afdeling van een middelgroot warenhuis stond daar gewoon in de diverse tuinen.
Eenmaal thuis en alles qua Bestiering Der Huishouden onder controle, kwam ik toe aan de krant. En in de PS-bijlage van Het Parool werd mij het 1 & ander duidelijk.
"Lichtstad Den Ilp" stond boven het artikel. Toen ging bij mij natuurlijk het welbekende lampje branden. Een van de intiatiefnemers van het geheel, ene Theo Lelie meldt:
"Donker maakt bang en licht maakt vrolijk. Een licht in je tuin of op je huis is gezellig. Bovendien is het een uitgelezen manier om de aandacht op je te vestigen".
Drie jaar geleden dacht Lelie dat het een goed idee zou zijn een competitie voor de mooist verlichte tuinen op te zetten. De burgemeester en enkele andere jury-leden reden op een oude brandweerauto door het dorp, op zoek naar de mooiste kerstverlichting.
"Wij keken echt niet alleen naar wie de meeste lichtjes in de tuin had. Er zit veel geld in deze dorpen. En als je het breed hebt, laat je het ook breed hangen. Een boom van 10 meter laten volhangen door je tuinman is helemaal niet moeilijk. Wij keken juist naar originaliteit".
Een groot succes werd de competitie niet. Toen burgemeerster Schneiders de prijswinnaars bekend maakte op de nieuwjaarsborrel, voelden sommige bewoners zich gepasseerd. "De boodschap was duidelijk. Vanaf toen zijn we met het uitdelen van prijzen gestopt."
Waarom eigenlijk uberhaupt het idee van een Competitie? Waarom mag het niet gewoon voor De Leuk? Waarom moet er altijd gelijk een Prijs tegenover staan? Waarom is er altijd en eeuwig van dat onderlinge Ik-Kan-Het-Beter-gedoe? Wie het breed heeft, laat het breed hangen. Jaja.
Jammer. Zonde. Ik had dat hele vervloekte artikel beter niet kunnen lezen. BAH.
